I broke the vacume line that run though the dash 97 dodge ram, guess its the line that runs the vent and defrost, is the a way to bypass this or do i need to remove the dash

You have broken doors in your HVAC housing. This is a common problem with the older body style Rams. Does require moving the dash, but it's a fairly simple process.

Check taht the dash controls are moving to the selected option.Check for broken cracked vacuum lines to actuators for vents

Does your mustang have vacum or electric control. If vacum, pull out controll and check if all the vacum lines are connected. Or if there are any cracks in the line. Check both ends of the line, where it connects to the control and up to the heater box.

Heater flap works on vacum lines. My jimmy had same problem. Found out flap broke inside heater core. Gmc had a default. If something breaks it goes to defrost as safety precaution. Or a vacum leak in a hose to heater.
