You either have bad brake pads or the bolts are loose that hold the front steering suspension on.

If you are actually stopped and it's doing it then it is not your brake pads/rotors/etc. The 4.3 in the Astro isn't the smoothest engine at idle, but if it's noticeably worse than usual it may need a tune-up or engine mounts, both common issues.

I just had this problem fixed on my 95 astro it need to have the pad and rotors replaced (the rotors were worn uneven and I didn't have enough left to get them turned). But now I can stop on a dime.

I have a 1995 chevy astro van and the breaks and steering have lost power. The fluid's are full, and I can not detect any broken lines. What could it be?

Your van don't have the regular air (vacum) power brake booster, your has a hydraboost brake booster, which is power by your power steering pump, if power steering pump goes bad you will not have power steering or brakes, brake peddle will feel very hard and will take alot of pressure on the brake peddle to stop your van, more the likely your power steering pump is bad.

My chevy astro van shakes when i slow own. and now

Sounds like your bands are locking up and sticking.
This is usually caused by worn bands or very dirty transmission fluid. the cheap fix is to change your transmission fluid and filter. If that doesn't fix the problem, your forward bands or servo may be worn out, which will require a rebuild.

95 chevy astro van no brake lights

Check the stop light switch on the top of the brake pedal arm inside the vehicle. It may be stuck but can be checked very easily. Push the button in and out... should go smoothly and turn the lights on when depressed. Cheap to fix if that's it...

1995 chevy astro van

Mine just did same (2001). Have them check the power steering pump--shaft broke in mine. This affects the brakes as well since both power brakes and power steering run off same system in Astros. Broken shaft messed up the booster system.
