Signs of either being bad could be poor throttle responce of feels like its not speeding up as fast as it should or if it has a spudder or takes longer to start than usual ...and im not sure but the fuel filter should be on the drivers side behind the motor close to the firewall

2005 nissan altima has problems starting every time I fill up the gas tank?

try replacing the fuel filter ! and air filter ! your spark plugs & plug wires should be replaced as well ! don't forget to replace distributor cap & rotor also ! you apparently have some garbage in your tank, it may be @ the fuel pump screen . however, just do what I said to, and see how that works. check the evaporative fuel canister for bad vacuum hoses, etc., do the fuel filter first, see how that works for you cindy !

Do you have to drain and drop the fuel tank on a 2005 Nissan Altima in order to change the fuel pump? Also where are the crankshaft sensor and the fuel pump relay located. Thank you for your help.

yes you have to drop tank to replace fuel pump and filter as it is one unit pretty easy though.

crankshaft sensor is either under the harmonic balancer pully or bolted to block facing it you normally have to pull pully to change sensor but some you dont you will need a puller and a installer if you have to pull the pully

relay should be under the hood in relay area

if this was helpful please give me a good rating
