My 1994 Mitsubishi Mirage (4g15) engine stops running while driving, then when you crank it, will start again. It happens repeatedly. I had my gas tank cleaned, fuel filter and spark plug wires replaced. What else can possibly be broken?
Fuel pump
Testimonial: "It's the fuel pump indeed. Also the gas tank found to be very dirty. The fuel pump was replaced, fuel system cleaned, now the car runs perfectly."
This is exactly what happened to my 1996 proton wira (4g15) last month. I had the fuel pump, fuel filter, and spark plugs replaced and the entire electrical system checked.
Now it runs faster and stronger but I notice a sudden change--it has started to consume fuel at a much greater rate than it had before the fuel system repair. I'm wondering whether this is normal or some other problems were overlooked.
Check the camshaft sensor
If the coil packs are getting hot from the manifold, this could cause this, but I would think that a code would be displayed. Also, as as Gangster24 mentioned, the fuel pressure regulator could be going south. It is more likely to be heat transfer to electrical components, Ecu going out, coil packs, ect. But these all should throw a code.
Check your fuel presssure regualtor it may not be working hope info help

Sorry for late reply. Had busy week and not able to open e-mail.
I don’t know the tool I could use to answer to your clarification request, so I used instead this tool for posting of solutions.
The "check engine" does not light. The problem started 10 days ago. The first time it happened, I was able to restart it easily and drive it home.
My home is just 1.8 km away from office, so it doesn’t happen daily. I think when I drive around 8 km and more, that's the time it happens. The latest it occurred, It restart easily but I'm not able to run meters before it died again (tried & happened twice). I had to rest it for around 5 minutes before I was able to drive it home for around 5 kilometers.

Is the check engine light on? Does it do it all the time, or just when it starts the problem, it keeps happening for a bit?
