1. Using a grease pencil or equivalent, mark the position of the hood hinge on the hood and body for the hinge being serviced.
2. Support the hood and disconnect the support cylinder from the hood.
3. Remove the bolts that secure the hood hinge to the hood .
4. Remove the bolt that secures the hood hinge to the front fender.

NOTE: The hood support cylinders can be replaced one at a time.

    1. Open and support the hood.
CAUTION: Do not pull on the hood support cylinders at the middle of the support cylinder during removal. Failure to follow this caution can result in damage to the hood support cylinders.

    2. Using a small flat bladed tool, or equivalent, release the retaining clip at each end of the support cylinder while carefully pulling the ball socket away from the ball stud .

NOTE: Lift the clips only enough to release the ball studs.

Our battery is dead on our 2004 Toyota Sienna, now our key wont manually open the doors

You will have to open the hood to jump start or change battery. There are two ways to open the hood, both involve the hood latch/locking mechinism. First thing you must find a way to do, is to access the hood latch with your hands. You may have to get under the car, or maybe remove the grill to be able to get to it. Try to pull the hood release cable with your fingers or with some pliers. If this proves too hard to do, try to use a strong stick or rod and try to get the latch to release that way, moving the release the same way the cable pulls it. Another option is to access the screws that hold the latch on to the car, remove the bolts and lift hood, latch and all up. Then replace the latch/lock when you get your battery fixed. If you decide to lift hood, latch and all up by removing the bolts/screws, watch out and don't break your cable, just lift the hood enough to seperate the latch from the hood.

Remove a hood from a 2006 nissan altima

absolutely not. first thing, carefully remove the washer hoses. there are four bolts on the hinges. just remove front two completely then slowly remove rear two while someone else holds the other side of hood. the hood itself is relatively light.when reinstalling, keep the hood bolts slightly loose and bring down the hood slowly, not letting it close. when you can position the hood straight, tighten a bolt on either side then close the hood. if it closes and opens while being evenly gapped on both sides tighten all four bolts. then replace the washer hose and done.

I need to replace the check engine bulb, it's burnt out and i've been told i have to remove the dashboard. How hard is that?

you do not need to remove the dash, just the instrument cluster, to do this, remove the bolt in the hood latch, then the bolt on the other side of the steering column cover panel, then the panel will pop out, this will uncover two screws on the instrument cluster finish panel, remove these two screws, and the three pointing upwards in front of your gauge cluster, this panel will then come out, disconnect battery, remove the four screws and the instrument panel will come out, unlpug it, check to see which bulb is the service light, and replace!
