I have a 1990 c1500 with a 4.3 v6 everytime at start up the tbi acts like its getting to much gas and is hard to start. I offen have to hold the pedal down so it will start.I have replaced the injecters but does not help.Gas is not leaking in the tbi when its off. It is just getting to much gas at start up but after it starts it runs perfect Thanks Frank

Try putting a little fuel in the carb, if it fires up and starts it will be the float in the carb float chamber has got stuck, easy to strip and clean, be up and running well within an hour ;)
If you pull the aircleaner off and watch the throttle body injectors they dont have anything coming out? Double check the map sensor and the throttle position sensor? Computer? I wonder if a wire to the computer has shorted out to ground.
Hard starting? Try holding accelerator to floor until it catches then let off immediately, so as not to over-rev engine. (As it was done for a flooded situation with carburetor.) You may be getting leak-by on one or more injectors, causing it to act like a flooded situation.
Most likely the coolant temperature sensor for the vehicle computer. Secondly, could be the tps sensor "throttle position sensor" not registering correctly or perhaps lots of other things but most likely the coolant temp sensor.

I had the same problem with my blazer and it took me to completely rebuild the throttle body and put over $300 into the top end, new filter, and it still didn't stop. I finally dropped the tank and started to go through all the proper steps to remove the new fuel pump and i found that the rubber tube from the pump filter to the intake tube had a crack down the middle of it, replaced that and it ran perfectly fine. if that's not the case make certain that you didn't accidentally switch the small fuel lines like i did.(you'll notice that EVERYTHING smells like gas and you'll have fuel draining out of the charcoal cab emissions filter). hope that helps out a little bit!
