You'll need to get the computer scanned for trouble codes. Chances are there is a small leak in the EVAP system. Could be a valve or hose in addition to the gas cap.
Sounds like you may have a code for insufficient engine operating tempurature. This is usually caused by a bad thermostat. Its pretty common to see this problem on newer GM vehicles. A new thermostat will take care of it 99% of the time.
To find the thermostat follow the upper hose to the engine. The thermostat will be behind the metal housing that the hose attaches to on the engine.
you should be able to access the bulbs from inside the trunk.
Pull the carpet back to expose the back side of the light cluster.
You will not have to remove the entire plastic lens , just the little bulb inside.
If the cap was tight. It could be a different leak. Drive a few days. If the light doesnt go out, a Garage will need to check it for you, there may be more to it, like an evaporative leak.
Release the fuel pressure by loosening the gas cap, raise and support the car on jack stands, squeeze the plastic tabs on the male end of the connector, and pull the connector apart. Some models have 2 tabs, and others have 1 and the fuel line screwed into the other side.Remove filter mounting bolt, unhook tab from frame and remove filter. when you put in the new filter, make sure the arrow is pointing toward front of engine. On the line with plastic tabs, just push on till you hear a click, then pull on it to make sure it's latched.Don't forget to tighten gas cap.
