I have a 1996 acura tl 2.5 and the radio says code.e when i try and turn it on. I located the code for the radio (it was on a sticker in the truck). I don't know how to enter the code to get it up and running. What is the procedure?

check for blown fuse the amp may not be powering up

on the TL - 5 digit code for the radio; 4 for navi; numbers are typically on a sticker on the side of the glovebox (nearest radio) or rear truck arm (great security acura?). Need to unplug the antenna and then put in the code, reconnect the antenna and your back in business. search the net to learn how to access the back of the radio. typically needed after power is lost to the vehicle, new battery installed, etc.

Code is at 3 places in your car, hopefully one is still there . look in orig. book, front or back s/b written. second in glove box, a white sticker. never there!
best bet it under cover of fuse box in front under hood passenger side (R) has relays for ABS, should be a sticker under lid. usually still there. otherwise pull radio and get serial # . good luck.

open glove compartment..mine was located on a white sticker on left side of compartment. I called the Acura dealer and the code was added to my profile for future reference

You need to get the serial number off the sticker attached to the radio. It will require pulling apart your dash. Call an Acura dealership with that serial number and they should be able to provide you the code. Or you can take it directly to the dealer but you will be charged labor.

it's the top number on the sticker on the inside of the glove box.

You have to go to an Acura dealer and they will be able to give you the code when you give them the serial number.

Also keep in mind that Acura is known to put the radio code on a sticker, place in an odd location of your car, such as the trunk, glovebox, etc.

Furthermore, you don't have to remove the head unit in order to find out its serial number. Just follow the instructions below:

RETRIEVING THE AUDIO UNIT SERIAL NUMBER

To reduce warranty and customer costs whenever an anti-theft code is lost, the audio unit’s serial number can be retrieved without having to remove the unit. To recall the serial number, follow these steps:

1. Turn the ignition switch to the accessory (I) position.

2. Turn on the audio unit. Make sure “CODE” appears on the display.

3. Turn off the audio unit.

4. Press and hold the number 1 and number 6 preset buttons at the same time, and then turn on the unit. The serial number will appear in two parts – the first
four digits followed by the last four digits, and then the sequence will repeat.

5. Enter these eight digits into DCS to retrieve the antitheft code.

you need to get the serial number off the radio then go to your acura or honda dealer they should be able to get you the code

Turn on car key, turn on radio. Enter your 6 digit code, using the numbered preset channel buttons on the radio. My code for my 2003 is 16353. The radio should come on and start playing. May have to enter more than once.
