You could have bulbs that are starting to go bad or a bad ground. The bad ground is the most likely cause since it happened to both at the same time, but it should effect the high beams also. So the first thing to check would be check the grounds at both headlamps and check the voltage supply at both headlamps. It is possible that you have low voltage and that would have to be checked at the switch and the dimmer if that is the case.
