You could, but I cannot recommend it. Having enjoyed many walks around golf courses, playing or caddying, I have to say that you simply should not get by with basics socks. A pair of
long golf socks can make a big difference in how you feel. Typically, I recommend long golf socks, but even the standard length will be suitable.
The main reason is that golf socks tend to feel very good on the feet. They are durable, stretchable, comfortable, and generally last for longer. OK, you might pay a bit more than you want to buy a pair, but they are generally very good socks.
Trainer socks will probably end up bothering you and feeling uncomfortably by the end of the day. You spend so much time walking around in golf that I cannot recommend anything but the standard golf socks.
