No they will not interchange. The input shaft pump and converter are different. Internal parts will interchange. You will need 96-early 99 model That is old body style.

The answer is really maybe not. on the later silverados they changes the bell housing and torq converter and pump. so you might want to compare the two before you plan on doing the swap

Yes they will all work, but sometimes some of the mounting brackets or plugs will be different, but once you have the two trannies side by side, inspect them and look for any diferences, if you find a different bracketor something , take it off the bad one and put it on the new one, after that everything will snap right in place

It will work but you will have to modify the crossmember and driveshaft and the computer. The 4l60e is an easy trans to recondition

They should all bolt in. Watch for overall length because they could have different length tail shafts depending on what they came out of. You may run into some difficulty getting your driveshaft to fit. However, those come in different lengths as well and it is usually not too hard to find one, the size you want in a scrapyard. Hope this helps.

Will the transmission from a 1998 chevy 1500 fit in my 2001 chevy 1500

The transmission in question is called, "4L60E" There are two versions. The 4L60E ran from 1992-1997. Then the 4L60E was updated and ran that version from (1996-2010). In 2002 GM introduced the 4L65E. So YES you should not have a problem fitting a 1998 chevy 1500 with a 4L60E into a 2001 Chevy 1500 with a 4L60E. You didn't mention that both were 2wd or 4wd. You can not convert a 2wd into a 4wd. I hope that helps, good luck.

Would a gm trans model 4L60e replace a 4060e for a 1998 chevy pick-up 305 v-8 4x4 ?

It is the same transmission but the 99 has a different bolt pattern. If the 1998 has a removable bell housing(it could be either way) You will have to switch the bell housings. The bell housing on the 99 is removable. If they both have removable bells then it will work.
