The entire instrument cluster in my 97 plymouth grand voyager has stopped working. I can't see odometer, trans info.(p,r,d,etc.), speedo, tach, gas, -- nothing. I checked all fuses and connectors under the dash. I don't want to go through taking the dash apart to repair/replace the cluster if I don't have to . . .
If all the fuses are good, it could either be the instrument cluster relay, or the fuse box ground wire, it may have been shorted out, or could have became loose, this is all i can think that it could be, i really hope this helps
You may be able to find a used cluster at a salvage yard, They are fairly simple to replace, (Just a few screws and a couple wiring harness to plug in), but thats only if the cluster IS defective, you may not need to replace it, The relay will be located somewhere next to the fuse box where your interior fuses are, they more than likely arent labeled, but if you can find the same make/model at a salvage yard, you may be able to buy the relays from the salvage yard for around 20 bucks, I wish you luck and if you have any more questions feel free to ask! Also! i have yahoo messenger if you would like to chat about the problem for free (instead of $10 on here) my Screen name is [email protected]!
sorry its taken me so long to respond, and i would check for the cluster around the gas and break panels, usually they hide all the panels and fuse boards up underneath the dash on the driverside wall, check all around in there, its going to be a black box with a clip on lid on it, or it will be a exposed cluster of relays and fuses... here is a picture of what you should look for.Hope this helps! let me know if you need any more help!

The power module that gives the cluster the voltage to operate correctly needs to be replaced
SOURCE: entire instrument cluster in my 97 plymouth voyager not working
To fix the dash going out try this. This is a common problem with the voyager, caravans and Town & Countrys. What the problem is is a cold soder in the interment cluster itself. The problem area is where the plug comes from the van into the cluster. You need to take the circuit board out of the cluster and reheat the soder on the back side of the circuit board were the plug plugs into. This will fix the cold soder permanitly I think its about 16 pins you have to reheat with the soder gun. If you don't feel comfrotable doing that you can just replace the interment cluster and it will be fine but if you buy a used one make sure it was tested. This also may fix the ABS light and the airbag light. Hope this helps I have done several of them.

Usually answered in minutes!
is this an absolute, or is there another possible solution, ie: bad connection, broken solder joint, etc. that is common with this model?
Also, if it is the controller you speak of, where is it and how do I remove/replace it?
I don't know if you received the last response I sent, so I'm sending another.
Based on the symptoms I described, is the controller you mentioned the only possible solution? Or could it be other problems ie: bad relay, short, broken solder joint, etc.?
Also, if it is what you mentioned, where is it and how do I go about removing/replacing it?
Where is this power module and how do I remove/replace it. Also, is this definitely the solution based on my symptoms, or could it possibly be caused something else ie: short, broken solder joint, bad connection, etc.?
Do you happen to know where the cluster relay is on the 97 voyager? I can't find it in my manual. I don't know where to find the cluster power control module either!
can I put a used cluster in myself--or remove the cluster myself and take it to someone to save on labor charges? If I just leave it, will that cause other problems? I don't want to spend any more $$ on this car!
Thanks for all the help. I ended up cleaning the contacts on several relays that I though might be related to the cluster and voila! Everything works--for now. I'm not putting the dash back together just yet! Thanks again.
