  1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal and the starter motor cable at the positive terminal.
  2. Remove the engine wire harness from the harness clip on the starter motor
  3. Disconnect the cable from the B terminal on the solenoid, and the BLK/WHT wire from the S terminal.
  4. Remove the starter motor by loosening the two attaching bolts.
  5. To install, reverse the removal procedures: re-position the starter in place, replace bolts, tighten the starter-to-engine bolts to 32 ft. lbs. (45 Nm).
  6. Make sure that all wires are securely connected.

I have a 1993 honda civic with a bad starter. I can't locate the starter.

The starter is on the back side of the engine, down low, goes into the transmission bell housing. You will need to jack the car up to replace it or work on it. Make sure u use proper safety jack stands while it in the aur.

First, check all of your connections at the starter. Next try checking your spark plugs. If the spark plugs are soaked in gasoline, then try cleaning them up.Then, if that dont work, try getting another starter from a wrecking yard (that is the cheaper way.)
