Hi i have a e240 merc which has developed a fan fault

Hi i have a e240 merc 1999 t reg w210 which has developed a strange problem of not turning off the radiator fan even after twenty minutes or more of standing with the engine off.

i have diconnected the fan via the two wire harness which is located by the side of the fan, to stop the battery going flat until i can solve the problem.

the car shows on the dash that the fault is there via the radiator warning light.

however when the fan is disconnected the dash goes out.

does anyone know of any common faults which i cant find any details about on the web.
can anyone help on this matter

If you hear a click while turning the key this would indicate low charge in battery any reading under 12 on a tester would have trouble starting other than that loose battery leads have you tried jumping if it starts with a jump this would indicate battery.

W210 2000 E240 Mercedes intermittent start engine delay (2-6 seconds) CP's replaced,not solved!!

Check battery leads and terminals must be clean
Check fuse (blade type)
Check battery with hydrometer, take it to shop
Batterys can (drop plates internally) if this is the case will result in delayed starting ...not enough amperage getting to starter motor & ignition

There is a special additive lubricant for gear transmission to solve this problem. Just add on to gear oil. I had the same problem. now ok.
