Yes you should be able to replace the coil yourself.Just remove the engine cover.Disconnect the electrical connectors from the coil. There are only 2 10mm bolts that hold the bracket down. The ignition control module is also on this bracket.Just drill out the rivets from the coil and install the new one.The new coil will have bolts instead of rivets.Remove the coil wire from the old coil.Make sure and add die electric grease to the coil wire.It will be included with the coil.Hope this helps.Good luck.

Not so easy. I have a 2000 Chevy Express 2500 with a 4.3 L engine. Above the front coil bracket bolt is a bracket for the throttle cable which is bolted down on top of it. Once that bolt is removed you would think the throttle cable bracket would move freely but it doesn't. There must be another bolt that at least must be loosened before this bracket can be moved but I cannot see or feel it and have yet to get this bracket off the stud it sits on. I can find nothing anywhere stating how to get around this problem or even acknowledging this bracket's existance. But it is keeping me from getting this done. I have removed the coolant tank up front in hopes of finding a solution from that angle but can see nothing. Am I the only one to experience this?
