The engine will idle very rough or it will die at idle.
A simple way to test, try removing the IAC valve completely from the intake manifold, leaving an exposed opening to let air in the manifold. If the engine idles ok with the IAC removed, you'll know it's a problem related to the IAC. You will need further testing to determine if the problem is with the IAC valve itself or with its circuit.

If it is the IAC then buy one. once you know exactly what it looks like then it should be easy to see it connected to your throttle body. Look at the new one to find out where potential bolt holes are and now you know where they are on the car as well. If the check engine light is still on after you replace it try disconnecting your battery cables for a few minutes and it should reset your computer and turn the light off.

Sounds like you may have an upper intake manifold leak. Typically the gasket between the Plenum and the lower intake dries up and gets sucked into the intake a little causing a leak and a high idle issue. The repair requires the removal of the plenum and replacement of the gasket. NOTE: there is a torx bolt hidden between the center plenum runners and can only be seen by looking straight down at the top of the plenum and it may be covered in dirt. If you have to use a bar to pry off the plenum you probably have missed a bolt. Typically it is the one noted above. Best of luck.
