The knock sensor should be on each side of the engine block. These are single wire connectors and require no special tools or tricks. Simply unscrew and install.

Engine rich codes or knock sensor codes don't normally cause engines to stall while driving. May want to check fuel pressure and ignition system before chasing the fault codes.
usually the sensors (2) are good but the harness goes bad and there is corrosion at the knock sensor connection. The intake manifold need to be removed and the harness replaced. KNOCK SENSOR 2 IS THE REAR.
Hello: Yes they are under the intake, if you have 75,000 miles or more I would replace the intake gaskets also. There is a GM bulletin for adding sealer to the sensors and replacing the water seal at the back of the hood. Replace both sensors and harness.
THE KNOCK sensors are located below the intake in the valley of the engine. to replace them you will need to remove intake assembly to gain access. this vehicle has two knock sensors i recommend replacing both of them while in there.
remove the intake manifold ,remove radiator ,remove radiator intake and outake housing, remove fan ,remove all belts: power steering, alternator and if you have a/c, remove harmonic balancer ,remove timing belt covers, remove timing belt remove intake housinng once you have remove all the above, your freaken engine will look naked, you can see the location of the knock sensor is locate in the engine valley
Unfortunately, the knock sensor is located UNDER the intake. You have to pull the
intake off. I had a mechanic do mine. He said its best to replace both
because they both corrode. (2 sensors, intake gasket, labor ($250)
HAS TWO KNOCK SENSORS they are both under intake in valley of engine. remove intake and will see two black grommets they are under those best to replace both at same time
