I have a 1999 camry LE which is making a knocking noise on both sides(more on the right side) at the front like if the struts/ball joints are bad; I changed the both struts, ball joints and the noise is still there; I purchased the upper and lower tie rods today as my last attempt to solve this problem; any help would be appreciated;

The outer tie rod ends can make a clanging noise if they are loose. You can easily check them - grab a hold of the tie rod and try to move it around to see if it has any play in the steering knuckle..

The noise could also be caused by the stabilizer/sway bar. Check the bushings and check the links for wear.

Knocking noise from front right end on 98' camry. 99,000 miles, and I am the second owner. first owner kept up great maintanence. I have been advised from large national chain that both front end quick...

I think you should make quite certain at the mechanics' that it is the struts and mounts knocking, and not the lower main ball joints. However worn strut top mounts are the most likely cause.

You don't say where you are but in the US $1000 should get you new struts and mounts both sides, albeit not a top name brand, and a necessary wheel alignment also.

You should not just replace only one side as that will degrade the handling and steering of the car.

A knock in front end when i turn

If the knock is heard when on a smooth surface when turning at full lock, it is one or both CV joints being worn. That usually happens soon after a CV rubber boot splits and lets out all the grease. Test this in a quiet parking lot. Replace both sides, not just one.

If it happens when driving somewhat straighter on a less than smooth surface, it will be either a suspension strut or strut mount failure, or less often, a lower outer ball joint.

Every time i drive into a hole my car will make this big noise just like i head iron

does it come from one of the front wheels?passenger side or driverside front?you may have a bad ball joint on one of those front ball joints.it could also be a bad strut on either front side. only an alighment can tell if it's a a bad control arm bushing or an 'a' frame bushing going bad. depending on how many miles your car has on it, and how rough it's been driven will determine the bushing life you have on 'a' frame bushings or the struts life left. i would start with the struts 1st. if you push up and dowm on the hood of your car, does it bounce up and down more than once? thats a good test for struts. if it bounces u good luck and thank you for choosing fixya.comp and down say 3 times after pushing it doen once, the struts bad.good luck and thank you for choosing fixya.com

There is a knocking noise coming from the front right wheel when i drive slowly over bumps and make turns....what could it be?

It might be a lower ball joint gone, bad strut/shock absorber, cv joint, etc. The best thing to do is have the front end checked, if it is the ball joint and that thing breaks, the wheel will dislodge from the steering knuckle, if not come completely off, I have seen it happen in my 41 years of being a mechanic.

Front driver side suspension knock over bumps

See if you can bounce car and replicate the noise. If you can, you should be able to find it, and put your hand on it. Stabilizer bushing are a place to look, both at the lower a arm and on the frame. If you narrow it down to the strut, it will need to be replaced. The front trans mount also goes bad, try putting it in drive with your foot on the brake and give it some gas and see if the engine moves an excessive amount.

2003 Protege5 front suspension knocking noise

front stuts need replacement, buy this point it would be both. you can tell most of the time buy if you hit a pot hole on the left and it makes a nosie thats the side. but after a few days of driving like this both are in bad shape and need replacement.

there is no bearing its just the strut, you can tell buy getting a jack stand and lifting the front and moving the tire side to side and back to front. usaly anything over 10-20 thouthands of an inch is bad, and that mean if you feel it it's bad.

but anyways to replace it you will need a sop, you have to compress your front srping in order to remove and install a strut.

Ball joint nocking or strut tower

CV joint, the strut does not make a knocking sound unless its totally
shoot and the car is bouncing to its high and low limit.

If you push down on the car and it bounces a little then the strut is shoot.

The cv joint will knock if it is bad when you turn the wheel, when it gets real bad,it will knock when driving in a straight line.
