Instant NO REVERSE, Chev 700R4 tranny.

sounds like a fuel issue how are the rmp's when going up is the vehicle starving for fuel may be a restriction in fuel system

If your transmission is a 700r4 (4l60) you have a reverse band that engages when you want to go in reverse. since it drives forward your low reverse clutch and your fwd clutch are working. This leaves the band which was probably slipping now is not engaging.

sound's like u need to check the tranny fluid? how many kilomiter's on the truck and the tranny?

It won't work. The shifting of the 4L60E is done by the computer in the 93. You might check with Summit or Jegs, I think they make a system to make it work.

sounds like u got the 700r4 blues of the junked out overdrive very common soo u will lose reverse and drive the cost here to pull rebuil and replace is 1000.00 bucks and as exspensive as 2000 bucks so it a toss up 700 r4 trannys from a junk yard now being winter is between 300-500 bucks and then labor to do the job hope it was a help but u have a common prob there good luck

your getting waer or antifreeze into the tranny,you need too either put an aux cooler on it or replace the raidator!!!!
then change the tranny fluid again also drain the tourq converter!!!!
try this before you rebuild the tranny!!!!

Sir I would first change my filter. When you do you should be able to acertain if anything is wrong by what yuo find in your pan. I think your clutchs are probably bad, but with out being able to scan it I don't have any other ideas. I have been lucky a couple of time before and changing the filter solved my problem. Your car is in limp mode generally you have reverse and second gear. 1st gear and reverse use the same clutches, so I am wondering if maybe you have second gear only!

sounds like a 700r4 tranny thats usually what happens when they decide to quit you loose overdrive and reverse. About 900 to 1000$ to rebuild.
