To answer those ?s, the computer needs to be scanned to remove the codes, these codes will give you a general idea of the problem, autozone will scan it for free, depending on the problem ,it may be under factory emmisions warranty,i would have this checked before continuing to drive could cause more damage depending on the problem, it can be as simple as a loose fuel cap,but have autozone scan it first, hope this helps.

The only way to determine what is wrong and what it will cost to fix is to scan for codes that triggered the light to go on. The oil change should not have anything to do with the light (just check the oil to make sure they filled it to the proper level.) If oil level is ok, you can drive it, but have it checked soon because it could cause other problems if ignored for too long. Go to a parts store, most offer free checks of check engine light. They will plug a hand held scan tool into the PT's diagnostic port, and 'read' codes stored on the cars computer. These codes 'trigger' the check engine light to go on. They can then tell you the code#'s, what they mean, and how to fix the problem. If at that point you have any questions, post them and the code #'s here.

2005 Pt Cruiser running poor at acceration

If plugs helped...the problem went away...then it could be a plug getting fouled by excess fuel or oil. Look at your new plugs and see if they are discolored or went with gas. could be an injector problem. It could also be an ignition problem. You moved the plug wires around and they worked for a few minutes till the new "connection in the wire" burned up. Check your plug wires with an ohm meter. Check your plugs for fuel or oil on plug...a sign of stuck injector, oil leak, misfire. Did it really help or was it just wishful thinking?

I have about 52,000 miles on my 2008 Pt Cruiser. How many miles can I drive before I need an oil change?

You should replace the oil every 3,000 miles or 3 months. Unless you are using synthetic oil. With synthetic you can go to 10,000 miles. But I change mine at 7,500.

Engine light came on and car revved up and came to a stop, i turned it off and started the car and it drove then oil light came on. had to do this a few times to get home. is it that i need an oil change?

Sounds more like you may be too low on oil.... have the oil level checked and look for an oil leak, the oil should be changed every 3-4,000 miles and checked inbetween.

Engine starves for fuel after running about 50 miles or so...

Has Neon do same, I ran fuel at low level, on hot day, ran engine until it started to act up & threw a fuel pressure gauge on it. Was at approx 5 psi. Cold next morning, 48-50 psi. Always hot day about 30-40 miles into work in morning, o.k. Sit in hot sun all day & would happen 3-4 times on way home. Sit and let cool, 20 minutes or so & go again for a while. Cool day, no problem. Change pump I would.
