97 jeep wrangler sport, mechanic changes clutch

97 jeep wrangler sport 120,000 miles, mechanic changes clutch and a month later it is making a whirling noise in neutral with the clutch pedal out, push in the clutch petal the noise goes away. A week later it is now making a squealing noise. The mechanic says it is normal? He charged me about $700.00 including parts and labor. The slave cylinder was replaced 6 months prior. The old clutch pilot bearing was chewed up bad and the plate almost down to the rivets(assuming he gave me my old parts back). Is the new pilot bearing rubbing? Will the problem go away with wear? Should the mechanic replace the pilot bearing? Was it installed wrong or with a manufactured defect in the bearing?
Please help!

Thanks,
Scott

If the pilot bearing was the problem it would make noise with the clutch pushed and go away when you let it out. Have you checked the fluid level in the transmission?

My used 97 jeep wrangler fuel / economy problems: My vacuum canister was completely full with crud (replace). also my coolant temp sensor was bad (twice replaced), effects fuel mixture. and O2 sensors were bad (effect fuel mixture) due to being fouled by spraying too much oil on spector air filter (now wipe off excess and let dry in sun), also carb cleaner appeared to foul O2 sensors (stopped using). Also sensor input/output signals were constantly being interrupted by battery sliding into computer harness, which I cured by placing a 1" spacer on rear battery clamp to push battery away from computer. After curing these problems my fuel economy went from 55-60 miles per 1/4 tank to 75-80+ miles per 1/4 tank.

97 jeep wragler sport 6cyl battery good and holds charge, changed starter, drove about a mile and battery gauge shot up to 19 volts, went back down to normal then shot back up to 19, what do you think is...

use a digital voltage meter on the battery to verify the 'spikes', Jeep Wrangler gauges are notorious for being erratic (I have a 98 TJ, how's your gas gauge working?)-

the printed circuit board gets weird due to water leaks that find their way to the back of the pod from the top of the roof seal, so it is not unusual for gauges to act strangly.

If that is not the case, it is time for a new alternator.

I have a 97 jeep wrangler with I-4 manual trans. Rattle in trans at a stop with clutch in and out. at one time there was a whine also but now that is gone. I dont drive this much. only 52,000 miles on her....

Rember when you press the clutch in, the pressure plate releices the clutch disc and input shaft in the transmission. If you still have noise, It can only be either a broken spring on the pressure plate or the throw out berring. Neither can be serviced. There is a fill plug on the side, It takes ATF

97 Jeep Wrangler sport- Cranks, will not

Fuel flow. Either simply, a blocked fuel line (debris / filter / fouled gas) or an electronic issue. Ever let this Jeep run bone dry on gas? Hopefully not, as doing so can draw a lot of crud into your fuel lines from the bottom of the tank. Electronically, if part of the Jeep "brain" has gone bad, there may not be any fuel being routed to the engine. This most likely needs a Jeep mechanic to repair.

When clutch pushed in it makes high pitched squeel

Im a mechanic, i think you will find it will be the clutch release bearing on the clutch fork, when you push the clutch in it will push the fork which will push the clutch release bearing onto the clutch plate which rotating with the engine revs

1991 jeep wrangler sahara shifting promblems

Your clutch is not disengaging. If it a hydrolic clutch chk. the fluid in resavor, Or slave cyl. for the clutch is bad, Or it has got air in it and needs to be bleed. This is a clutch problem, nothing wrong with trans. If its a manual clutch linkage its an ajustment thing. My best guess if its hydrolic slave cyl. went bad, or resavor is out of fluid.
