The system is designed so that with the trunk open it will not open the roof. If the trunk is fully closed and the trunk light is still on, then find the switch in the boot which operates the light. If you disconnect any wires you could disable the boot completely. Including security.
I have the same problem but it got worse. Traced the root problem back to the truck wiring harness. Many of the wires cut or alsmost cut through. Perhaps caused by grommet not being inserted properely into trunck access hole. pull back the harness boot from the trunk to body and inspect the wiring. My problem is I've got 3 cut brown wires. not sure which connects to which. anybody have a wiring diagram for trunck connections or a way to check how to match the wires back up. The other wires are ok as color coding is unique, just the brown ones are all the same?
