I'm pretty sure my altenator is bad so i'm trying to figure out where it is located so I can take it off and get it checked
First, before you do anything else, if you can start your Jeep, do so and after it is running take the battery cable off of the positive side. If the engine stops, your alternator is either bad, or has a bad connection to the battery. If it does not stop, then your alternator is fine, and you have another issue. Let me know, I can help you
You dont need to take it off to get is checked. You can have it checked right on the vehicle. I would check it first before taking it all the way out, it might not be bad! You can go to any tool store and buy an alternator checker for like 3 dollars. This will tell you if your alt is putting out a charge. As for the location of your alternator it is usually on the upper right passenger side of the motor to the left of the waterpump if you are facing the vehicle. Should be two wires running to it.
