Don't know how to reset the radio code. When I first bought the car it came with the AM/FM cassette deck with CD changer in trunk it never worked, but it powers up and then asks for the code, so I think it may work if it can be reset.

I have a 2003 Mazda MPV that has the stereo that you could add a cassette deck or MD to...I do not have either, but there is a button for it. I found a guy on the internet that made a chip that plugs into the back of the radio and has a 3.5mm jack on it that will play when you push the cassette/md button on the radio. It is great....sounds just like one that came from the factory.

Check the power (fuse) distribution box under the hood. All the way up top towards the windshield there should be a small 10amp fuse marked "mem" see if that fuse is good and try it again.

I have a 2000 beetle with fixing in the boot for cd changer...will any changer do, not sure what i should be looking for! Thanks

Likely have a Monsoon radio system in your 2000 Beetle. The CD changer is controlled by your radio, and not any CD changer will connect to the outlet in your trunk. You can either find a CD changer on eBay (or elsewhere, or swap out your radio for a radio from a newer VW Beetle that has a CD player installed instead of the cassette. Can also find those on eBay.
