I have been working on my Tacoma so far i have changed the upstream sensor, changed the air filter, cleand the MAF sensor, and ran injector cleaner and yet im still getting codes p0171 and p1130 also it says pending. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what pending means? Can anyone give me any tips on what to try please? I have erased the codes with an OBD II scanner and the CEL keeps coming back on. Someone anyone please help!

This is the 2001-2012 Toyota Tacoma wiring diagram, Toyota Tacoma IAT (Intake Air Temperature) Sensor Location and the Toyota Tacoma MAF (Mass Air Flow) Sensor Location, also included is a pinout of the sensor. You are likely installing a performance chip or a cold air intake kit for increased HP (Horsepower). You will want to be sure to disconnect the car battery before adding performance products.
You don't say if it is a 4 cyl or 6 cyl engine. The code means the O2 sensor is telling the computer the engine fuel mixture is too lean and the computer can not make the injectors provide enough extra fuel to make the sensor go rich. Reasons can be a faulty cooling thermostat, low fuel pressure, vac leaks, exhaust leaks, and other engine problems.
Normall an oxygen sensor will do this before it is completely bad....(.Suggestion Only)................
...The sensor monitors air/fuel mixture and if it doesnt sense enough air it will cause it to burn more fuel.....Also change air filter and make sure air in tires are at factory spec.....Check driver door jam for spec....It could have up to 4 oxygen sensors....Dont just change one for the heck of it...
You need it scanned by a dealer and it will show which one is losing voltage........
Make sure plugs and wires are good .....If havent been changed in 30,000..You need to change the
plugs probably.....................Hope this helps..................Metalpoet......Level II chrysler Tech.
Hi, please get a free OBD II scan at your local parts chain and write down the trouble code. Send us the code to get better repair advice. Without the code, we will be guessing on the problem.
Your Tacoma is OBD II. There are no jumpers that I'm aware of. You can get the codes pulled by visiting an Autozone store. With all due respect - if you don't know how to get the codes, what will you do once you know them? Toyota systems are complex and you can spend a fortune doing guesswork diagnostics on them.
check the mass air flow sensor there maybe dirt on the filiment inside the sensor causing false readings. cleaning or replacing it may make the codes go away.
Hi.. On your question the definition of the codes are:
P0171, System to lean ( Fuel trim)
P1130, Air / Fuel sensor circuit range ? performance malfuntion This code is exclusive california Emissions). Oxigen sensor Performance malfuntion.
The first step you need to do is Check the Oxigen ( O2 sensor)
Connections The front and the rear one.
Check the condition of the Air filter Replace if need.
Check Spark plug Replace if need.
Check Fuel condition, Replace fuel filter if need.
And Clear the Codes if averything is good.
If the code P1130 return Replace the Air fuel ratio sensor..
Ok.. I hope this help on your question. If need more info letme know.
P0171- mens the MAF sensor is dirty and needs cleaned. You can get MAF cleaner at your local auto parts store. The MAF is located in the air intake just after the air filter
P1130- is more than likely a result of the previous code. It is in regard to the feul/air mixture ratio. A dirty MAF can cause this code.
Also, if you are using an aftermarket oiled air filter, it would be the cause of the P0171 code.
