2001 Silverado 2WD and hear clicking from the rear wheel area

I have a 2001 Silverado 2WD and when I go around corners I hear a clicking sound coming from the rear wheels. I can hear coming from both sides. If I turn right I hear it on the right side more (which has less weight on it during a right turn) and when I turn left on the left more. I think I can hear it during straight aways, but it is very faint. Also, notice it most going around a corner at about 30 to 40 mph.

Actually, I figured it out. The there are these metal plates behind inside, they must protect he wheel from rocks and stuff from getting into the hub. It is stationary, but part of it sits inside the hub of th wheel, which of course turns. Well the stationary guard is rusted and was rubbing. And I had the problem backwards, the noise was more noticeable on the opposite side of the turn. So when I took a right turn the left side would make noise because more weight was on it.

When turning the wheel all the way, going around a corner, i hear a clicking sound, what is the probable cause?

Quite often clicking noise is from the front axle trunion (U-joint).

You can see them, one per side, using a tool simular to a long screw driver and gently

prying upward is one way to see if there is play in the u-joint.

When they get worn they may click, snap or clunk, but usually click in 2WD.

Hello I have a 1999 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 2WD (2x4). While I am driving i have a loud thumping (flat tire sound) coming from the right rear. You can hear it as well on the left just not as loud. when...

Sounds like it might be a damaged rear end. Chock the wheels or put rear differential on jack stands and put vehicle in neutral then by hand turn the drive line back and forth and see if there is any loud noise when u do. There should not be a lot of play. if on jack stand you can also turn one of the rear wheels and see if there is any load noises or excessive play

Funny noise/squeal from LH wheel area on turning RH bends

Check your brakes for excessive wear or uneven wear. There are metal objects attached to the brake pads, that when worn they touch the rotors creating a metal squealing sound. This serves as a warning to prevent additional damage to your braking system, replace if pads are worn. If this isn't the case, if 4WD have your shafts, hubs bearings checked, if 2WD have your wheel bearings checked. Hopefully this helps

Won't start, good battery,

For as long as I've had my 2001 silverado I have ran into this same problem.. And of all things it may be that the battery lines and or post may be corroded and or the posts not fully tightend... Once I took care of those 2 simple things... All has been good
