The parts aren't really that expensive, it's the labor these places charge an hour. Call around and see who can do it the cheapest, unless you want to do it your self.

SOURCE: VW Golf DOHC 14i 16V, hunting, starts and stops

There is a small vacuum pipe from the EGR solenoid that was disconnected, by reconnecting this pipe the problems (that I have had ever since I had a new head some 30,000 miles ago from a VW main dealer) have gone away.

Where is the oil pressure sensor of vw golf 1999

The sensors are usually found on the oil filter flange housing with the oil cooler. Also there are two dynamic sensors to measure pressure below 2000 rpm and above 2000 rpm so it could warn you of pressure loss within those two ranges.

Rpm hunting

check for a vaccuum leak this is where i would start if it rolled into my shop. possibly a PCV valve sticking or a hole in the hose, this hose should run from the valve cover, or crank case and then to the intake, or carb.

Error code po0117. Vw beetle

16501/P0117 - Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor (G62): Signal too Low Possible Symptoms
  • Difficulties with starting a cold engine.
  • Starting the engine when engine is warmish or warm, idle rpm immediately is 1200 - 3000 rpm.
  • RPM at idle is irregular.
  • With all engine temperatures seldom idle rpm will vary between 900 - 1000 rpm.
  • With engine warm (90 °C) the engine temperature suddenly drops (70 °C) and slowly comes back to 90 °C.
  • Bad acceleration during warming up.
    • Diesel: an indication is extreme long time burning time of the glow indication light.
Possible Causes
  • The electrical signal coming from G62 is too low
  • Wiring and/or connections faulty (short circuit?)
  • Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor (G62) faulty
Possible Solutions
  • Check wiring and connections
  • Check / Replace Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor (G62)
Special Notes
  • In MY 1995-2002 (?) in Europe at VW-cars the G2/G62 had the bad reputation of breaking down often. The default G2/G62 is black and all replacements are green.

Ngine over fueling at all rpm, rough idle, heavy fuel consumption

if the car is stock i would replace your oxygen sensor. you may also need to clean out the MAF sensor.

Idling speed vw golf petrol 1.4 2001

That sounds about right, the idle speed may not even be manually settable due to emissions regulations.
I know for sure you can't adjust the idle mixture anymore; that is determined by sensors and the on-board computer.
There may still be adjustments on some cars but they are often sealed with lead to avoid tinkering.

MY VW LUPO IS HUNTING AND MAKING A CLICKING NOISE UNDER THE ENGINE IM HAVE THE ECT CHANGED ON SATURDAY I HAD JUST HAD A M.O.T IT FAIL CAUSE EXHAUST EMISSIONS WERE TOO HIGH I HAVE SOME TIMES A CHECK LIGHT...

The hunting and clicking is caused by a stuck vapor canister purge valve. The valve is on a vacume line. When it gets stuck open too much air enters the engine at idle or low rpm. This will cause the engine to hunt and stall as soon as any load is put on it if you do not rev it hard. The engine will over-run when coming to a stop and probably stall. It can come and go putting the chack light on. The quick fix is to just un-plug the solenoid. facing the enginebay it is located on the left hand side just infront of the suspention mount it is half balck half blue on every lupo i have seen. unpluging it will mean the car is driveable again but the check light does come on. It is 100% safe as long as nothing else happens that goes undetected because the light is already on. The part is about £70/80 from VW,  they may or may not know what you are talking about but i would not bother going to VW. The part is easy to find at a scrapyards if there are Lupos / Polos.  A number of other VAG cars share the part as well.  Any other problems come along to clublupo.co.uk
