Dodge/Chrysler EGR valves are known to be unreliable. The one on my wife's 05 Grand Caravan died in the 40k miles range.

They are not really serviceable. The usual fix is replacement. Part will be between $50 and $150 depending on where you get it. Installation most of the time is 2-4 bolts and the harness.

I have a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 5.7 hemi. I have to replace the EGR since erasing codes numerous times has not helped. Do I need the PCM flashed after replacement? Thanks

Hello! No, not at all...After you change the EGR, disconnect the + battery terminal for 3-5 minutes...Reconnect...And if the EGR was the cause of the fault the code will clear...Make sure you have the stereo code...If not, connect a regular 9 volt battery to a cigar lighter plug (pay attention to polarity)...Plug it into the cigar lighter socket before you disconnect the battery...It will maintain power to the stereo...Guru...Saailer

2005 ram hemi, code is P0406

Check the voltage at the EGR solenoid and ground. Remove the EGR valve and clean the carbon buildup out of it or replace it altogether. A new EGR valve will run you about $60 from the dealer.

Where is egr valve on 05 5.7l hemi 4wd

The EGR on my 05 Hemi Durango is located on the passenger side front of the engine near the head.

I would bet your Ram is the same or close to it.

Where is the egr valve on a 2005 godge ram trk, 1500 2wd with a 5.7lt hemi

A new EGR Valve that comes from Dodge them selfs will go for around 50$

- as for replacing, the EGR valve has 4 bolts, and on this year ram in right in front of the passenger side head. Be careful not to mix up the wiring.
