Remove the bolts that hold the bed box to the frame, disconnect the rear light wiring harness and the fuel filler pipe. Set up a pair of saw horses or something behind the truck. Then have four guys to lift on all four corners and set the bed on the stand you have ready. The bed is heavy! And there is the fuel pump! Replace with the new and take care to put the wiring harness for the fuel pump back where it was. Replace the bed, bolts and connect the lights. You are ready to go! Takes about two hours if you don't break the welds that hold the nuts for the bed bolts loose. Good luck!

Do we set the timing after changing the cam shaft sensor on a 2002 GMC sierra 1500?

It would probably be a good idea but if that doesnt work try plugging in an error decoded and see if it comes up with anything

Check connections at/or replace oil pressure switch. Your oil pressure switch is also a safety feature that shuts off power to fuel pump in case of accident or rollover.

2002 GMC Sierra 1500 fuel system

first off do not use a test light. use a circuit tester. what you saw as 5volts is called a reference signal. the cars computer(much like your home computer)works only off 5 volts. if you use a test light(the old kind with a light bulb.)you will fry the computer. second, are you saying the problem is still occuring after these parts have been changed?

Fuel pump- 2002 GMC Sierra

The fuel sending unit only controls the gas guage not the fuel supply to the vehicle. The pump is twelve volts. If you are not getting twelve volts on the PUMP wires check the fuel pump relay and the key circuit to it. If you have to cycle the key three to four times rapidly to get the vehicle to start check the fuel pump pressure at the regulator for manufacturer specs. An injector stuck open will also cause same problems you are describing.

Fuel problem 2002 GMC Sierra 1500

Really by the way you describe it you need to check the fuel pressure. There is a valve on the fuel rail for testing it. You will need a fuel pressure gauge. It should have 55 to 65 psi. It will not run on less than 50 psi. If you have less then it will be your pump. Good Luck
