It means that your crankshaft pulley comes out and the crankshaft key must have gone off thats why it shreds the belt due to misalignment. you need to pull down the complete belts, cooling fan to pull down the pulley using a puller to investigate the problem.

I have a 1999 Buick century I put a new surpteen belt on and when I start the car the crank pully turns but the belt doesn't move and all the pullys can be moved by hand none of them are frozen

How much tension does the tensioner pulley put on the belt? The spring may not be strong enough anymore. If the water pump is bound up internally that would be cause enough too. Check the clutch pulley on the AC compressor again. It may turn by hand without the belt on but may stop when it's on if the bearings are bad.

Belt replacement mazda3 2006

i do hope this helps its for the serpentine belt
First, jack up the caricon1.png, use jack stands, yadda yadda etc.

Remove the lower splash shield.

Youll see a skid plate looking thing on the ac compressor, remove that with a 12mm socket.

Now you have to remove the AC compressor. There are four stud/bolt things holding it on. Also 12mm.

Once the bolts are out the AC compressor is basically held up by the belt and the AC lines. Work the AC belt off of the pulley and then secure the ACcompressor out of the way. Dont let it hang by the AC lines.

Go back up to the top of the engine and remove the engine cover, it just pulls right off.

Youll see the serpentine belt and the tensioner pulley (basically the pulley at the front of the motor and right on top).

Note the routing of the belt for reinstallation.

Put a socket on the tensioner pulley (either 12 or 14mm) and push towards the firewall.

Youll see the belt loosen.

Now slip the belt off of the tensioner pulley.

You can release the tension on the pulley slowly now.

Work the serp belt off of the rest of the pullies.

Installation is basically the reverse of removal, but it can be tricky to route the belt on since its new and rigid. It helps to have a friend push on the tensioner while you route the belt. I managed to do it by myself, but I have long arms. It also took me several tries and much swearing!

Now putting the AC belt back on can be tricky due to the fact that it is a stretch belt, and will be very tight.

I slipped the belt on the crank pulley and then pulled the AC compressor up as high as I could. Then I could slip the belt on. Little note here, because the belt was so tight the compressor wouldnt slip back into position. I used my floor jack on the bottom of the compressor and very slowly pushed on it with the jack.

Then line up the AC compressor, resecure the bolts/nuts etc.

Reinstall splash shield.

DONE

Problem with my car 09/21/2010. A Battery is good, cable are good, inspected fuses on the driver's side ( Fuse panel all good). Radio, window e.c.t. work. I'm tried jump hear click, click, and click but I...

Hi! This most likely the problem when you try to crank and no start.
missfire- low power sparkplug
selonoid- not enough power going to the starter or Starter it self.
Bad Sensor- Into Intake Manifold, Oil Pressure, EGR, Carburator. Exshaust.
Belt- on to Camshaft, Cam gear, or Gear chain.
Fuel- gas line, fuel filter, fuel pump, low flow into fuel line or No fuel,
Bad Timing Belt on to camshaft or crankshaft.
My best bet is your AC Compressor Camshaft pully and your Crankshaft pully. Try this if I was right. Try to move the tension on the main motor belt, if it's tight, try moving the pully by hand, and if the compressor and crankshaft pully move or wable just a little. This means the berring of the pully are worn out and this cause the lost timing starter. but lets make sure, let someone look at the cam pully or the crankshaft pully while trying to start, if the pully moves, This mean that your pully need to be replace. this will cause to lack the Ignition,.To my last bet also check your Catalitic Converter mostt likely they get burned out when you keep trying to crank the car with no start, also check your ignition switch, hope this will solve the problem
P.S. some cars have a Intel switch also know the Fuel switch is located on the pasenger or driver seat. this will cause the fuel flowing into the gas intel line. press it in to reset.

Glad to help.

Engine starts but schreeches and belt won't move. fird f150 1996

If the belt won't move, the schreech is probably coming from the crank pully. Take the belt off and see what pully will not move by turning them by hand. Either the altenator, power steering, A/C compessor, Tensioner, or idler pully is frozen up. you should be able to turn all of them by hand. Replace which ever one doesnot move.

How to put on new AC comressor belt

After you have removed both belts.place the ac belt over the pullys on the crank all the way to the inside so that the belt will go behind the pulley, then place the ac side on the ac compressor pulley.
know place the belt above the tensioner pully and place belt on crank pulley, then raise the tensioner with a wrench to where you can slide belt under the tensioner pulley and release the tensioner against belt, reinstall other belt as you removed it.

Surpentine belt.

depends on which v8 you have....the 4.7 the routing is as follows it goes under the waterpump pully over the alternator down and around the power steering pumpto the crank...it goes under the bottom of the crank to the idler pully.the flat side of the belt goes ver the idler then around the automatic tensioner to the ac compressor.
on the 5.2 and 5.9 it routes starting at the idler pully the flat side goes undr the idler the up to the ac compressor around the compressor and down to the power steering pump ... around power stering pump to waterpump where the flat side is against waterpump pully around water pump down and around crank up it automatic tensioner....around tensioner and up and over alternator
