NOTE
As an alternate method, a 16mm socket can be placed on the tensioner pulley bolt and rotated clockwise to remove the belt.

Do not allow the drive belt tensioner to snap back as damage to the drive belt tensioner or personal injury could result.

There are 2 possible diagrams depending on if you have a 4.6L SOHC or a 4.6L DOHC. This information should be on the plate under the hood. Best of luck!

CAUTION
To avoid personal injury when rotating the serpentine belt tensioner, use a tight fitting wrench that is at least 24 in. (61cm) long.
You can use a box-end wrench on the pulley nut to rotate the tensioner ...
... then remove the belt from the pulleys

use a 15mm box wrench on the nut retaining the tensioner pulley to pry the tensioner 'arm' against the spring to release belt. note belt routing on decal under hood,or make a sketch,to aid in replacement.
on OHV engine rotate clockwise
on OHC rotate counter clockwise
be sure belt is completely seated on pulleys
