One good way to check that the fuel pump is running to listen. take the gas cap of and put you ear the the fuel tank fill neck. have a freind turn the key from the off position to the on position, but do not start the crank the engine over. you should hear a huming or wizzing sound for a few short moments. if you hear that sound the pump is running and more thatn likely pumping fuel.

Car ran fine drove it twenty min went to start it again wouldnt start went back an hour later started right up drove it 15 min and it died again changed the plugs and fuel filter still wont start

This sounds more like a crankshaft position sensor. When they start going bad they will work when vehicle relatively cold but fail when hot.

Hope this helps, it it does please leave feedback and vote Thank You and Good Luck

My 1996 ford bronco wont start. My wife drove home from work parked over the weekend and was going to work on monday and it wont start it turns over fine and its getting spark but idont hear the fuel pump....

i would start simple on this and check the fuel pump relay first. there not that expensive you can try to replace if you cant find specs to test it. if that does not work then i would say its your fuel pump that went out.

2000 silverado wont start turns over with lots of power . drove fine parked it and now wont start !

It might be the fuel pump, you can test it by pulling off a vacuum line on the intake manifold, then spray a lot of carburetor cleaner into the manifold, then replace the vacuum line and see if the engine will start. If the engine does start and run even for a few seconds, then you have a fuel related problem and it will most likely be the fuel pump itself. (make sure that the carburetor spray that you use says that it is extremely flammable, otherwise it will not start the engine).

2000 mercury villager wont start

Check your inertia switch. This is usually located in the rear interior of the vehicle. It has a reset switch you hold for 3 seconds. It is a safety switch to kill the fuelpump in an accident. Can trip with door closings.
