Popping noise in front drivers side of 1998 chevy Z71 in reverse

I have a 1998 Silverado K1500 Z71 pick up truck and when I back-up it makes a popping sound in the front end. What is the problem.

I had popping sounds on my 1996 chev 4x4 ,more so on sharp turns .It was a broken stabilizer link on the right front.
I could not believe how hard to put new one in . If the new bolt was one inch longer . IT WOULD HAVE BEEN EASY. I suggest to get a buddy to help a little extra pry down on the sway bar would have been a big help to me. GOOD LUCK!

Look at where the torsion bars go through the control arm and get someone to move the vehicle back and forth and see if they are moving. This is most likely. Let me know what you find.

Ok I have a 98 z71 on my way home from my friends house tonight every turn i made I heard a LOUD popping clunking noise I could feel it in the floor and steering wheel it's on the front left side.....

Maybe.
Be aware of any changes to steering control. Is it pulling to one side? I have an 01 z71 and my issue, which sounds "similar" to yours is a dry secondary steering shaft which, apparently is common among these trucks. Ask your Mech. to check for that possibility while you're there.
