Cigarette lighter fuse is in the trunk, left side, fuse #20 , yellow one.
Chevy Malibu Classic The fuse for the cigarette lighter and outlet is in the black box under hood in front of driver, location #34 replaced with #20 yellow fuse
Rather than re-invent see http://www.fixya.com/cars/t11556946-power_outlet_not_working
The cigarette lighter fuse on your 2005 Chevy Malibu Classic is located at the rear end of the car. To access it, pop open the trunk and look for a fuse box on the driver side of the vehicle - it'll be under a carpeted cover. Remove the cover, then the lid of the fuse box, and you will find your lighter fluid in the middle on the bottom row.
The fuse will be a yellow 20 amp fuse. The lighter element has a wound peice of metal that gets hot so it will light your smoke. If debries are left stuck in that coil eventually the coil will short out. Inspecting that coil for an open is firat thing to check. Next the casing the lighter fits into has a balast which operates like a fuse. That can be shorted out as well. If either one of these items gets weak and shorts out the fuse will not be blown
The fuse for the cigarette lighter/auxillary power is located in the under hood fuse/relay block. It is a 20 amp ATM (mini) fuse. It is fuse #34 and is yellow. The location will be shown on the underside of the fuse box cover. Look along the drivers and passenger side inner fender areas for the fuse box.
