Does my 2007 avalon touring edition (3.5L) have a timing belt or chain?

  • Anonymous May 04, 2010

That was my first thought as well. Upon researching it, I did not find a timing belt listed in the toyota oem parts (www.toyotapartscenter.net). All I could find listed for this car was a replacement timing chain.

This car is not equipped with a timing belt, it utilizes a timing chain with an automatic hydraulic tensioner. no replacement interval! keep up on your oil changes and the chain should have a very long life!

My 2007 Mazda CX-7 is making a chattering sound on the timeing chain side and now the belt or pullie is squealing.

the chain has stretched, it will get worse and you will damage the engine. you need to take it to the dealer so they can fix it under warranty. they now about the problem and in the last few months have seen a lot of these. if you are not over 60k then you still have power train warranty and can get it fixed for free.
