The seat has a transmission to move the seat up, down, foward , & back. Screw jacks adjust the seat up & down. Cables move the seat forward & back. The cable it seems had to break or the end of the cable has rounded out. Possibly the cable rounded out the seat it rides in the transimission housing too. You will need to remove the seat to find out
will or wont move foward? you can get to the wiring block under seat. isolate wiring from motor 1 of three, (middle motor- foward back, front motor - front seat base up / down, back motor - back seat base up /down) does it work of mem. buttons? or when u lean seat foward (entry assist).
I had the same problem on my 2003 regal,
I looked under the seat, and i noticed that the electrical wiring harness for the seat had caught on something . The wires had just streched so far that they all broke...all i had to do was splice them back together and presto..it worked.
check that 1st..
if not the problem, check your fuse to see idf its blown.
There is two differet motors and I believe two different switches. If not two switches, there should still be two motors. Either one of the motors is bad, or the swich is bad. You can use a voltmeter to test power to the motors to see if there is power going to them. If there is power to both motors, then the one motor that isn't turning is bad. If no power to one of the motors, then likely the switch is bad since the power source is the same fuse.
Ignition switch is bad and needs to be replaced. My 03 Regal did the same thing and playing with the hazzard swith would make it stop. New ignition switch fixed it.
The last time I checked one of these, the wiring harness for everything you just described is underneath the seat. You'll have to move the seat all the way forward or back to get to the harnesses to reconnect them.
I hope this helps! :) Let me know if you need any further assistance in this matter.
