Diesel. Reduce power lite turned on. Shut off engine and started back up - lite is off. Can it be driven?

Jerry, Drive to a good shop. So many things can cause reduced power light unfortunately. The first step would be to get the truck hooked up to a scanner/computer and have the computer scanned for trouble codes. One thing that you could try is to drain the water from the water separator that is mounted on the frame under drivers front door. If the PCM picks up on water, power is reduced until water is removed/drained. It could be an exhaust sensor that is reading faulty. Unfortunately from here its impossible to tell you exactly what the fault is because there are just so many engine sensor inputs that could cause your problem. What's the "TC" sign? Guessing from the rest of your question, it sounds like your throttle body is dirty. try to clean it with throttle body cleaner & see if that helps.

Having same problem with reduce engine power, good engine hard to pin point without pros.After driving awhile discover blown intake manifold gaskets..take awhile to show external signs.Remove throttle body...if gasket inside is wet then start there.Let me know how it turns out uh.

My 99 Camaro starts and runs fine but on occasional (about every 6th time) itis started it will turn over but not crank. If you wait approx 5 minutes and retry--it will start. Also, reduced engine light...

It might be a problem in the anti theft system.

i i have the samething here just reset the computer and the engine sign should go away its with the tc theres something wrong with it and it makes the computer seperate some part or disable which the transmission cannot work properly and the sign comes up for both
i learend ffrom sources from the internet.

the check engine light you are getting sounds like and electrical problem, have the battery and the alternator tested, and have autozone or the like pull the codes off for you and see if you can figure out what they are....

Condition:
Some customers may comment on an intermittent MIL/SES light Illuminated with a message center or an indicator that displays Reduced Engine Power. DTC P2138 - Accelerator Pedal Position (APP) Sensor 1-2 Correlation may be set. The voltage difference between APP sensor 1 and APP sensor 2 exceeds a predetermined value for more than 2 seconds. Refer to DTC P2138 in SI for further diagnostics.

Cause:
On some vehicles, the IP to body harness connector, which carries the APP signal to the ECM/PCM, is located in the left hand kick panel area and if the kick panel is not sealed properly, water enters and causes a short in the APP circuits setting a P2138 code.

Correction:
Important: Do Not replace the accelerator pedal assembly.

Locate the IP to body harness connector, which may be located in and around the left hand kick panel area. Check to see if there is a water leak into the area and repair as necessary.

This is the fix which I read and ignored at first. Water in the large connector under the panel next to the hood release. It sits horizontally and holds water that had leaked into the panel.
