P0171------ system too lean bank#1
Po174------ system too lean bank#2
For these 2 codes, try cleaning the maf sensor (mass air flow), that is mounted in the big black hose that goes from the air filter housing to the throttle plate, if it is dirty, that will cause those 02 sensors to send a signal to the computor to lean the air fuel mixture. If cleaning it doesn't work, the sensors will probably need changing.
P0300---- Random/multiple cylinder misfire
P0316---- Cylinder misfire at start up---- first 100 revolutions.
On those 2 codes, you have to do some testing to find out why there is a misfire.
Possible causes:
dirty/malfunctioning injectors
weak coil pack
fowling spark plugs/wires
Low fuel pressure

P0171 System too lean (bank 1) P0174 System too Lean (bank 2) P0300 Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected P0316 Misfire Detected 1st 1000 revs That's what the codes are. I don't know what engine you have, whether it's a distributor or coil packs, but if you take care of the misfire (probably plugs and wires) it should take care of the lean condition. Having a bank 1 and bank 2, I'm assuming it's a V6

Ford ranger engine codes P0171 &P0174 ?

Hi hope I can help.
P0171 mean bank 1 is to lean
P0174 means bank 2 is lean
You did not state what engine you have but by your codes you must have the V6 4.0.
These codes refer to a fuel issue. bank 1 and bank two represent each of your manifolds.
being you have a V6 you have 2 manifolds.
Each of your manifold have an O2 sensor in it. That's what is giving the lean reading.
This does not mean that you have bad O2 sensors.
They are just doing there job.
So you should check your fuel pressure with a gauge and make sure your pressure is correct.
It seams as your fuel pump maybe weak.
Hope this helps.

2003 Lincoln LS put a scanner on it and got 16 codes.... P0113,P0171,P0174,P0300,P0304,P0307,P0316,P0358, P2107,P2110,P2195,P0102,P0122,P0223,P0352.... WHATS THE FIRST THING I SHOULD DO?????

Unless your familiar with the cars systems
and I assume your not.
You take it to a repair shop

I have a 2004 LS V8

You can not work on that veh yourself
if your not famialiar with both OBD2
Sytems and the Lincolon LS

If you have a specific few questions

I am getting a code p0171 and p0174 on my 1999 ford ranger 3.0 liter

P0171 is a LEAN code for cylinder bank 1

P0174 is a LEAN code for cylinder bank 2

That means your car is getting a lot of air and not enough fuel which will make the engine Misfire and rough idle. Well i can say check your mass air flow for any dirt in it and the EGR for any leaks. And also the fuel pump and the fuel lines or any restricted fuel filter. Good luck bro

F150 2002 4.2 eng codes: p1400,p1151,p1131,p0316,p0301,p0174, and p0171

1400 is dpfe, 1151 is an 02 sensor code, 1131 is also 02s11 code, P0316 = Engine Misfire Detected on Startup (First 1000 Revolutions)
Po301 Cylender 1 misfire, p0174 lean condition bank 2, And p0171 is lean bank 1. Either this is in need of a whosale of repairs or you have computer issues, From looking at the codes i would first do a complete tune up, Including wires, And inspect for a vacume leak before replacing any 02 sensors..

Can't read misfire codes

The code P0300 is a random misfire code which means any cylinder and the code P0316 means that there is a misfire code set within the first 1000 revolutions of the engine. Good luck with this problem.
