Question about 2001 Chevrolet Silverado
I had the same issue with my 2001 Silverado 1500 and found that the cigarette lighter fuse (labeled "cigar" in the fuse bank under the hood) was the culprit. Replace this and you should be good to go.

Most of the time it is the computer if there is no communication,make sure the code reader is turned on.
