2005 GMC Savana van/ remove door pin

I have a 2005 GMC Savana van. The top hinge on the side door is sticking. I would just like to know if there is an easy way to remove the door pin or do i have to just hammer on it until it comes out.

You have to hammer on it till it comes out. Here is the part number for the grease able pin kit sold under the Help! line of auto parts. This is part #38455.
Thank you for using fixya and here is a link that should help you.

Can I Install a HUD that needs a 16 Pin OBD2 connector on my 2005 GMC Savana Van

It depends on the make and model of the HUD. Most cars that have OBD2 computers can use a HUD if the HUD is compatible. Since we don't know what you are installing, that is all I can say.

Need instructions on replacing drivers side door hinge pins and bushings

  • 1. Place masking tape on the inside edges of the door, on both the inside and outside of the door. 2. Remove the door spring by using a door spring removal tool. Insert the tool into the door spring, turn the knob with a screwdriver to compress the spring, then pull out the tool. 3. Set a 5-gallon bucket under the door. This will help support the weight of the door. 4.Place a nail punch under the hinge pin, and strike it with a hammer. Repeat this until the hinge pin begins to come out of the hinge. 5.Place the end of a flat-head screwdriver under the top of the hinge pin, then strike the screwdriver with the hammer to force the hinge pin out of the hinge. 6. Place the bushing on top of the new door hinge pin, and tap it into place with the hammer. 7. Insert the new hinge pin into the hinge. Tap on the hinge pin with the hammer and nail punch to force the pin into the hinge. 8. Insert the hinge spring back into the door, and release the tension on the spring removal tool. 9. Spray the door hinge with a lubricating spray or apply grease.

I know there are a few directions but it is fairly easy to do. If you have access to an air hammer and a compressor you can use this in place of a manual hammer to make the process a bit easier.

    Hope this helps.

GMC 2005 Savanna, running lights will not shut off even when the van is turned off. Switch was replaced but the lights are still on.

Interesting that this same problem has started with my 2005 GMC Savana.....they turn on by themselves and won't turn off.

2002 GMC Savana van inner door latch broken

You can pick up the handle from your local GMC dealer. I paid roughly $90 for both (a bit high...but money well spent!) As noted, yes; you do have to remove the interior door panel. From there it's just a matter of removing 4 nuts (metric #10 socket), and replacing them back once the new handle is slipped into place! The bars that operate the door latches simply snap into the plastic clips attached to the handle assembly.
The operation sounds worse then what it really is. It took me longer to write up this review than it did to actually do the work! 5 minutes max...done!! Hell, if you're local; buy the parts

How do you remove the rear side door panel to

On the inside trim, you can remove screws that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. You'll need to lift the door panel upwards in order to get it off the window ledge. Then you'll need to manipulate the panel and disconnect the door handle linkage from the door handle and disconnect the wiring for your controls
