How do I change a fuel pump on a 2000 Acura TL? How can I tell if this is the reason the car will not start? Engine turns over strong.

When you replaced the fuel pump, you disconnected the battery, yes (because they tell you to)?

You now need to reset the security system and engine immobilizer.

the TCS light will come on any time the check engine light comes on. Pull codes from the engines computer to see why the check engine light is on. Post the codes in the comments below and I'll do my best to assist you further.

It would be under the hood in the fuse and relay center.

fuel pump can be accessed by putting down rear seats and exposing the trunk and rear backrest trim cover. you will see an access panel, remove the panel and you will see the fuel pump/fuel sender ass\'y.

more than likely cause for this is a gas leak more than likely one the metal lines under the car has gotten rusty and started to leak
another possibility is a injector is leaking or pressure regulator is bad and it dumping to much fuel into motor but this will usually trigger a engine light (code would be a o2 sensor or bank 1 to rich or bank 2 to rich) also might also have black smoke coming out exhaust
So if u dont have any engine codes more than likely cause is a fuel line leaking

You will have to have a fuel pressure test done on the vehicle ,but it is either the fuel filter,or the fuel pump witch has gone out,it is not a relay,or fuse,or the pump would not work at all.Replace the fuel filter and see if the engine performs correctly .If the fuel filter helps,but the engine still runs poorly,replace the fuel pump,if the fuel filter went to long,being restricted,it will wear out the fuel pump.

You definitly have a timing problem. I dont think its a fuel problem due to the age of your car. Its about past due for a timing belt/chain replacement.

hi, when you turn the ignition on do you hear the fuel pump start up if you do then the pump is fine if how ever you hear nothing then the chances are its going to either be the fuel pump or fuel pump relay, if you have a look in your fuse box you should be able to find the fuel pump relay if you cant locate it then its best you get a manual to show you the relays location, you can then put a finger on the relay and when you turn the ignition on you should feel a little click coming from the relay if you hear this then the pump needs replacing but if you hear or feel nothing then the chances are the relay needs replacing.

you can also check if the pump is working by removing the fuel feed hose from the injector fuel rail then once this is removed you put a tub under it then turn the ignition on if you have fuel shooting out then you know the fuel pump and relay are ok and you need to start thinking of some other problem such as ecu etc,

you need to have the fuel pressure checked at the engine and then check the line for flow
