Your multi function switch in the steering colum is malfuctioning. this would need replaced to fix your turn sgnal problem. The clicking you here behind the dash is the turn signal relay, but this only clicks when it is fed power and only gets power from the multi function switch on the colum.
Please clerify the other problem you are having with the rear left door?

Hi Dave. There isn't a problem with the back door - I only thought that the door hitting the lamp cluster on that side might have been relevant.
I have stripped, cleaned and de-greased the multi-function switch and it looks fine - no tracking, glazing of the contacts, breaks etc. The other 2 experts pointed towards the relay, but that didn't make sense to me as the hazard flashers are working fine.
So, even though the multi-function switch (indicator stalk) appears almost new, you think that will be the problem?
Yes I have had in the past (mostly ford ambulances) the multi function switch go out with out and trace of a problrem shown. now there is a way to check this before running out to buy this expencive part.
Take the wires loss on at the relay and use your test light and test the lead coming from the multi fuction switch this will let you know for sure if the power is bleeding threw the switch, also while inspecting this trace the wire the best you can and make sure there isn't another power wire bleeding from wire to wire making your signal run. you can also eliminate this possibility by removing the power to the multifunction switch and turning the car on if the blinker is running then you have bad wires bleeding across.
Thanks Dave. At the moment I can't get to the relay. It's behind the dash somewhere but I can't find a way in. I'll let you know. Might be cheaper and easier to get the part off eBay (there is one on there cheap at the moment) and just try it. Thanks for your help.

Hello,
Thanks for using FixYa.
You definitely have a relay problem. Change the turn signal relay and your problem will be solved. This happend to me once. Changed relays, boom. Solved
I hope this helps. Thanks and good day.

Thanks for your quick response HotRatchet. As you agree with the previous chap, I will get a new relay. But I don't understand the logic. Am I being a bit dim? Why do the hazard flashers all work normally if the relay is kaput? I asked this of the other chap, but got no answer. I would appreciate a 'heads up', as the logic doesn't stack up to me. Thanks.

Hi! You will need to replace the TURN SIGNAL SWITCH also known as FLASHER RELAY. Two things happen when this is faulty, either wont flash or will flash continuously even without activation. Have it replaced and you'll be good. Hope this helps and have a good one!
Thanks for your prompt response. Aren't the switch (stalk on column) and relay separate (I believe this is behind the dask somewhere?)? I thought it couldn't be the relay because the hazards work perfectly. If it is the relay, could you tell me where it is and how to identify it. I can replace the stalk/indicator switch on eBay I think, probably the relay too I guess, but want to be sure which bit I need! Thanks.
Yes, try looking underneath the dash with your back head resting at the floor you'll see set of relays there. For you to have an idea before pulling the relay please turn on the turn signal and touch the relay with clicking sound. Once you know the relay to pull out, disconnect the battery connectors first then proceed on pulling out the relay. Have it replaced. Good luck!
Thanks I'll do that. Sorry to be pedantic, but if the relay is faulty, why are the hazards working perfectly? Or are these on separate relay?
If the hazards works fine dont replace it. Just a tip, Once you pulled the turn signals try cleaning it first for it may be just corroded. Atleast this wont cost you.

No further forward. Have pulled the switch and cleaned/degreased all contacts. I suspect it can't be the relay as the hazards are working fine. Please help!
Hi - I have had 2 answers to the question, but they don't make sense. Also, could you please tell me where the flasher relay actually is on the Kubistar. It is not at the fusebox, and it is not behind the instrument binnacle. the clicking comes from somewhere in the middle of the dash?
