Is there a bypass for the start neutral safety switch? Sometimes 2004 Land Rover Discovery will not start when in park. Has power and sometimes if you move the vehicle or even just the gear shift it will start.

have the lifters removed and check for leak down and blocked oil holes and worn plates, broken springs. have the injectors checked for blocked tips . Have the fuel manifold pressure tested to ensure adequate fuel pressure is maintained as that also causes misfiring.
The 2000 Discovery with code p1590 is not neutral safety switch, this code 1590 is for the ABS rough road signal circuit malfunction .this is can be caused by a bad wire or sensor problem. The ABS is the anti lock brake system and will not cause engine to die out.
the problem you list is more of a signal loss for crank sensor or other sensor but most of the time a sensor fault that cut engine should set a code no matter how fast or often, so i would have to say it must be a fuel problem, the fuel pump stops pumping at times causing loss of power and then picks back up.
What scan tool are you using that told you this was a neutral switch? is this a small code reader? I would let the dealer scan it with a real scan tool and see what is going on, when you say it dies while driving are you saying the engine shuts off and you need to restart it or is it a loss of power at which you can not give it gas or engine revs up but wont go?
This can sometimes happen when the brake sensor is not being activated. If you press *really* hard on the brake, you can sometimes get it to trip, allowing you to get out of park. Generally, the sensor will have to be replaced, but I have had one car (2002 Ford Explorer) where this trick would make it work for months at a time.
I would check to see if your brake lights work, if they don't then replace the brake light switch. It also releases the vehicles neutral safety switch. Hope this helps out.
