On a 1998 dodge stratus 2.4 ltr engine misfire

On a 1998 dodge stratus 2.4 ltr replaced the cracked head with a freshly reconditioned head. after assembly checked compression, about 220lbs on all 4 cylinders. Started vehicle and when it comes down on idle motor shakes pretty badly like a miss. Pulled plugs wires while running and found #1 cylinder shows no very little to no change when pulled. New plugs plenty of spark changed fuel injectors with no improvement. Fuel pressure is at 50 to 60 but vacuum is around 13 inches. I let the car run for 30 minutes but no codes came up. What should I look for as the problem with #1 cylinder?

Check compression, with engine running remove h/t leads 1 at a time to diagnose weak cylinder, check that cylinder has the same amount of spark ( jumps the same gap as others )try changing the plug from crook cylinder to a good one and note if miss follows that spark plug or stays with same cylinder, can do same with injectors but only perform one procedure at a time so you can determine which one works.

I need torque specs for the head bolts on a 2004 Dodge Stratus Coupe 2.4L SOHC

For 2004 Dodge Stratus 2.4L SFI SOHC 4cyl the Head Bolt Torque sequence
------------ | 10 6 2 3 7 | | 9 5 1 4 8 | ------------

Step: 1 - Torque to 25 ft/lbs
Steps: 2 - Torque to 50 ft/lbs
Steps: 3 - Torque to 50 ft/lbs
Steps: 4 - Turn 90 degreesRecheck final torque in sequence

Caution:Engine uses torque to yield head bolts (TTY) that permanently stretch during initial installation. New head bolts must be used when cylinder headis replaced or re installed to obtain proper torque specification.

Hope helps (remember comment and rated this).

I've just been quoted the price of $1465 for replacing the computer engine + a new battery for my 2000 Dodge Stratus at the dealership. Is this a reasonable charge or not?

When you say new engine I have to assume we are talking a manufactured short block engine. Here is a list price of just such an engine:
CHRYSL 2 122 4 C 2000-01 Neon, Stratus, Breeze,FWD,SOHC, MFl, 16 Valve,upper blk #642,651,lower blk #769,head #737,crank #755,valve cover has 10-6mm bolts, extra 8mm bolt under #2 &#3 intake port,with water pump Head part # call DD91 $1,990
Here is a page you should view for brand new engines as a comparison.

If your going to get a manufactured short block engine replacement, and an engine computer along with a new battery AND labor you are getting a fair price.

I need to know where the egr vlave on a 1998 dodge stratus 4 cyl is located

It usually helps to provide which engine you have and the 8th VIN digit. The valve is located in the cyl head, towards the rear of the head, left side.

My 2002 Dodge Stratus is not keeping compression. I was told that I will need a new engine. What are some reasons that would happen?

hi, it could be down to damaged piston rings, cracked block, cracked liners, but it could also be something simple like blown head gasket if i were you i would get second oppinion as engine replacement is last resort.
