I was in a small bumper accident and now I can not get cold air from my air conditioner. Where is it in the engine compartment and what would fail with a jolt like that?

Did you notice any freon come flying out of the condensing unit in front of the radiator? You may have popped a small hole and not seen it. You can get it checked easy enough with a freon sniffer, an ac shop will do it and tell you how much to replace the unit. Of course the insurance will cover it. If they already settled or you didn't call them, call them now and tell them a dump truck was dropping little stones on the road and one hit you. One popped mine once. Hope this helps.

The air condition system is all throughout the engine compartment and under the dash. More than likely it will be one of two things that is causing your A/C to not work properly after the accident.
1. You have bent a line or a connection point in the line/hoses that is letting freon leak out.
2. Your A/C compressor could have taken a hit and is either unplugged or just not working properly anymore.
The easiest way to find out which is to probably take it to a local A/C shop that will diagnose the problem for free and then go from there. Good luck and let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks for using FixYa!

How do you take off front bumper on new dodge dart

Take out all the clips on the top of the bumper in the eninge compartment, the there are four bolts in each fender well, then eight bolts on the bottom of the bumper. Slightly pull on the side of the bumper and it'll come right off, I just recently had to do this for the same reason.

Where is the port to charge my air conditioner

There are 2 ports, a high pressure and low pressure port. Both are in the engine compartment. I would suggest you get someone who knows air conditioners to do the work. This can be dangerous since Freon is extremely cold and can cause burns (freezer burns). Also you can damage your air conditioning system, and then it will cost big bucks to repair.

I have a 1997 catera and when i start it sometimes there is a loud noise that sounds like a vacuum coming from the front but it doesnt seem to be coming from the engine what could this be?

That noise is the electric air pump the location is not in the engine compartment but in the front under the bumper this only operate for 1 minute on cold start the purpose is to warm up the catalytic convertor this is a emission device. If the car is already warmed up and you turn off the vehicle and restart it wont come on.Its only for cold start ups.

Air conditioner is a little cold

Your kidding, right! Check your vacuum hose inside the engine compartment, in may have a leak or come loose where it connects to the firewall. This may be keeping your air mixing damper from operating properly.

Air conditioner, fuel gauge, and temp gauge all stopped working at the same time

Three possibilities;
All related to blown fuses,

1- Fuse blown in the engine compartment LH.
2- Fuse blown in the cabin forward LH below the dashboard (below your legs left hand).
3- Fuse blown in the harness (wire bundles) below the dashboard very easy to reach with your hands “just look underneath steering wheel ".

U said " The air conditioner blows, but the air is not cold.
" Yes only the fan working which might receiving power independent all from those other mentioned things.
If all fuses OK. Then look for broken wires.

Check Engine Light is Staying On

I agree with timmyb187. The dealership will test for codes and see exactly what sensor might be putting that light on. Under the bumper are sensors for the airbag. There could be a harness that got cut because of the accident.

2000 Jeep Cherokee Air Conditioner

If compressor isn't kicking in, check the connector atop the a/c accumulator, beside the coolant recover tank, in the engine compartment. That connector is atop a black bottle, and the connector goes to the low pressure switch. These switches do fail, and you can jump a wire across the connector terminals to see if the compressor comes on (engine running). As this circuit provides part of the ground path from the compressor clutch, if the switch is open, the compressor will never turn on. If the switch is failed, it can be replaced without opening the a/c system. Just disconnect the connector, unscrew the switch, replace it, and reconnect the connector.
