2000 s10 extreme accelerating is fine when I let off the gas it starts howling give it gas it stops let up starts again. Had bad vibration and thumping noise so I replaced the rear double cardan joints (before the differential) had to add shims to adjust pinion angle (that seems ok now).

CV Joint Axle Replacement - How to Repair or Replace
Over time the rubber boots of the CV joints
can become cracked, torn, or otherwise compromised. Once moisture and
dirt get into a CV joint and grease makes its way out, the CV joints
days are numbered. Signs of impending failures are a
click-click-clicking or metallic crackling noise while turning and
accelerating or a clunking upon deceleration. While one can repack,
reboot, and rebuild CV axles, it makes more sense for the average
do-it-yourselfer to procure replacement units and swap out the old
axles. If a boot is torn or missing, it is possible to save the joint
if caught early enough, but usually the damage has already been done.
Replacing or servicing the entire CV joint axle assembly may be the smarter move since replacing a boot may involve removing an axle, which may also involve removing half or all of the vehicle's brakes and suspension.

check the fuel pressure regulator and see if it has a leak (common problem)

A pinion seal leaks for one or boyh of these reasons. A worn pinion bearing or a driveshaft vibration, Sounds as though you have both. Do not confuse tire howl with gear howl, be sure. The rear end can run 3 to 500.00 if not more. Ck the gear oil in the rearend for metal content. That will tell you alot. The hard shifting is generally from a sticky spool in the trans valve body. Have the trans serviced w/new oil and filter. The new oil often cleans the moving parts of gum and varnish buildup.in the valve body. One more thing, the rear ends take a special oil and additive if it's a limited slip or posi lock. You will have a popping/binding noise when turning if the wrong lube is install. Have your driveshaft aligned and balanced at at driveshaft shop.or you will end up tearing up the tailshaft on the trans. Good Luck
SOURCE: I have clunk noises coming from the differential
NAW, sounds like you need the updated slip yoke and "special" spline lube, I would think your local dealer would have done that way before going into the diff. Or maybe they did and I didn't post it?
I've also found sway bar end links to cause a clunk but you will usally hear this when you are turning or going over a bump also, But once or twice I have found them to be the problem with stops or starts only!
If it's 4x4 then you could try and narrow it down by pulling the rear drive line and going for a short drive in 4 wheel drive and see if the noise is gone.
Reoport back with you findings for further assistance

This needs to be done by a qualified mechanic as there are tolerances and special tools needed, call around to get the best quote and prompt attention. Good luck
