I have a 1997 dodge intrepid 6 cyl. 3.3. The fuse inside the motor compartment fuse block keeps popping. It is labeled as *engine contlr.*. What might be causeing this?

Can you start the car after the fuse blows If it wont sounds like you have a bad ECM

  • Anonymous May 19, 2010

When I put a new fuse in and turn the ignition switch to try to start the car, the fuse will pop and the car will just keep turning over like it wants to start. The car will not start after the fuse blow. It will turn over but no fire. The *engine Contlr* fuse is rated for a 20 amp fuse but has blown up to 40 amp fuses.

You probably have a bad ECM if you are inclined you can get one from a wrecker and change it yourself, they arent that bad to change. Pull the battery and it will be sitting down and behind the battery tray.

2002 dodge grand caravan se 3.3 V6

In a 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan SE with a 3.3 V6 engine, there are several fuses that you can check if the front heat/air/defrost is not working. These fuses are located in the engine compartment and in the passenger compartment fuse box.

To check the fuses in the engine compartment:

Locate the fuse box cover on the driver's side of the engine compartment.
Remove the cover by pressing in the tabs on the sides of the cover.
Look at the fuse diagram on the inside of the cover or in the owner's manual to determine which fuses to check. The fuses related to the front heat/air/defrost are typically labeled "HVAC" or "Blower Motor."
Use a fuse tester or a multimeter to test the fuses. If the fuse is blown, it will need to be replaced.
To check the fuses in the passenger compartment fuse box:

Locate the fuse box under the dashboard on the passenger side of the vehicle.
If checking the fuses does not resolve the issue with the front heat/air/defrost, there may be a problem with the blower motor or the HVAC system

Is a 1997 Dodge Intrepid 3.5 a high out put motor?

It ain't a viper , but it has quite a good amount of power.
Pulls a intrepid good if you step on it.
Have been told that the 3.5 is a bit sketchy , may throw a rod out the side of the block more often than the 3.3
