Where is the smog pump on a 1997 ford taurus - 1997 Ford Taurus

only thing i can think of is getting a hold of a repair manual for the car and finding it in there.

Well there is no one thing that causes this fault code but here are what can trigger the fault in the fuel vapor control system.
P0443 FORD - EVAP Purge Control Circuit
Possible causes- Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Purge Solenoid Control harness is open or shorted
- Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Purge Solenoid Control circuit poor electrical connection
- Faulty Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Purge Solenoid Control

one of the valves is faulty,i have came across this problem before.i know there hard to indifiy but its a valve problem.adrian;;;

Secondary Air Injection system = SMOG pump
Check for fuses or stuck relay

that code indicates that there is a air pump to decrease the amount of harmful fumes thru the exhust system the air pump maybe failing causing the code

Use a ratchet to untension the tensioner pulley. I believe its the one between the alternator and power steering pump. Its the smaller pulley! Give it a try!
