Have the engine light codes scanned for problems. The vehicle may be in limp mode causing the transmission to start off in second or third gear causing slow pick up.
Observe if you go down to the first gear when you slow down and pick up speed after. It may be an issue with the torque converter. If you have rough idling , you may have a dirty or faulty IAC valve.
Does the winding noise speed nup and slow down with the movement of the car? Does the sound seem like an electrical whine or a mechanical whine? It could be your speedomiter cable.
have you changed the fuel filter lately a plugged fuel filter will cause this concern
