You should have the fan speed switch checked and replaced if defective. Because these switches are usually located far up into the dash, where the common do it yourselfer can get to, I recommend having this repair performed by an ASE certified mechanic.

Ac come on only on max and works intermittently. Auto switch does not go off when pressed and ambient light blinks as the ac goes on and off.

It sounds like the AC/Heater blower motor speed controller is burned out, it is located near the blower motor.

Only high speed works on fan motor

This condition is caused by a defective blower motor speed control resistor. The resistor is located right next to the blower motor with the connector end sticking out of the ducting for the AC/Heater system. Very easy to replace and the part is cheap as well.

2001 tahoe heater sticks on hot

Melted relay

A serious symptom of a problem with the blower motor relay is a burned or melted relay. Relays are exposed to high current loads and can sometimes get hot when they develop problems. In serious cases, the relays may heat up to the point where the interior components and plastic housing of the relay will begin to melt and burn - sometimes even causing damage to the fuse box or panel as well.
Since the blower motor relay is essentially the switch that directly controls power to the blower motor, the entire AC system will be left unable to distribute its cooled or heated air if the relay fails. For this reason, if you suspect that your blower motor relay is having a problem, have the vehicle's AC system diagnosed by a professional technician from YourMechanic. They will be able to determine if the car will need a blower motor relay replacement, or a different repair, to bring full functionality back to your AC system.

When I turn the heater on burnt plastic smell from vents

It could be your heater blower motor or the blower speed regulating reisitor.
Try different blower speeds, see if the smell goes away. Also if one or more speed setting don't work, it is more than likely it is the resistor, if no to the tests, it is more likely to be the blower motor.
Also check to see if the blower intake is blocked.

2004 Chevrolet Silverado Heater/AC Blower on without Ignition ON

there is no relay for the heater fan it's a 15 amp fuse and is on the accessories circuit. the reostat is responsible for all 3 speeds .with the key off there should be no voltage to the blower motor whether the fans speed fan switch is on or off. the fuse will be located in the fuse paneleither on the drivers left side in the dash or underneath the dash in the fuse block. you have a short in the harness that is under the dash and most likely it's a bad plug on the harness. your going to have to do some searching but that's where the problem short is... please rate
